WASH Sustainability

Teaching good water hygiene and developing a plan for maintainence is important preparation for a new well.  Historically, NGOs have too often drilled a well and left without providing this support.  Without proper care and maintenance, water may get contaminated or the well stops working and villagers go back to their old water sources.  St Paul Partners does not drill a well until a village has organized a water committee with a plan for maintaining the well.  We help organize this and provide proper WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) training.  We are also working on improved services to help repair and restore non working wells.  Restoring wells can be a cost effective way to bring safe water to more people..
