Our organization grew out of a partnership between the St Paul Area Synod of the ELCA with the Iringa Diocese of the Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) called Bega Kwa Bega (BKB or Shoulder to Shoulder in Swahili). The BKB partnership pairs about 70 congregations in America with parishes in Iringa Region of Tanzania. Many of our projects solve water needs in some of these villages, often with financial support from their partner congregations. Our team in Iringa searches out villages and schools in the region with greatest need where we can have the most impact, whether partnered with BKB or not. We rent office space from the Diocese and they help us manage our payroll.
