Mawambala Primary School

Mawambala Primary School is a government school located in Kilolo district, which currently has 859 students (437 girls/422 boys) enrolled along with 14 teachers/staff members. Mawambala is one of many schools in the area which faces issues due to limited access to water.

Currently, students walk a minimum of 1.5 kilometers, multiple times daily, to fetch water from various unsafe sources around the village.

A borehole with a hand pump will be installed on the school grounds and maintained by the school. Nearby residents will have access to the water by paying a fee to the school which will be used to maintain the operation of the pump.

H2O for Life is funding this project with matching funds from St Paul Partners.
